Meeting users at 'My Life Wellbeing'
It's always a privilege to meet with users, especially those for whom life has added some extra challenges in doing the things we take for granted.
Attendees at the Spinal Injuries Ireland's Annual Conference at the RDS (Dublin) shared many stories, but the following two stood out by far:
- A dad of a 12 year old girl wanted to participate in sport, but didn't know where to look. We shared some ideas but, ultimately, this a key objective for Able Active: to make it easier to find those events, programmes, camps and more.
- A former elite para-athlete no longer engages with his sport because it's no longer fun. It's has developed into a pipeline for developing athletes, sadly at the expense of social participation. Surely, sport has a responsibility to do both?
As a call-to-action, we're mapping trails, amenities and things to do for people with disabilities, but we're not doing this alone. Join with us to bring your data to the community and bring users to you.
